I got a MasterCard gift certificate for Christmas this year and I was wondering if I could buy music online with it. It says debit on both the front and back of the card and it has a 16 digit number on the front. I was never given a PIN option when I activated the card online either.

If the seller accepts it you are in business.
A debit/cash card is treated just like a credit card it is accepted wherever the MasterCard logo is accepted. The only difference is that you can only spend what was loaded on the card. But the card can be reloaded like a prepaid credit/debit card. Gift certificate cards don’t require a pin.
