Tim S asked:
Is there any legal way to buy music and own it (able to burn it), without paying a dollar per track?
The only thing I have found is eMusic, but Im not sure it has popular songs.
I mean so you you can own the song and be able to burn it onto CDs, without having to pay for both a subscription and an additional fee to be able to burn it.

Buying the whole ‘album’ online can get you a lower price per track.
You can still buy music on CD, of course. Often a little time spent searching can land you the music you want off a used CD, then you can rip it onto your hard drive in any format you want.
iTunes
$.99 per song
Other than the first guys suggestion there is not really an online store that will give you unlimited dl’s that you own (can burn).
However, if you’re really into music you should give “renting” it a shot. Get an mp3 player and that becomes your “cd” and you can put thousands of songs on it.
I currently have over 15,000 songs by over 600 artists that I pay a measly $150 a year and I can do anything except burn them to CD. Think how much that would cost and how big an mp3 player I would need if I paid $1 a track.

Well i use bearshare which is all around free but u can download the version that u pay money with, and u can use blubster, limewire.
well yahoo music is like 5 dollars a month i think im not sure and it has so many popular songs and unlimited per month im not sur eon the price
illegal. there’s limewire.
lime wire is a beatuiful thing
try wal-mart music store. its 89 cents a track, which i guess is better than a doller, and you don’t need a subscription.
Walmart has an online music store, no monthly fee and $0.88 per track. I use it a lot. I download to my computer at work and then burn to CD to take home to put on my mp3 player.
There are a bunch of them out there, but it was my experience that a lot of the “freebies” were timed out and not functional after a short while…so you didnt have them afterall. I like I tunes because for a buck a tune its mine and I can expect it to be there when I want it……
You are correct. Emusic is the best in terms of usage and price, but they do not always have the “popular” songs.
They do however, have a large number of songs.
I listen to a lot of alternative/indi pop-rock and I love it. They even have a lot of Daniel Johnston’s work.
I can find some of the older popular music on compilations and live albums.
I havent found one “great” site yet either, but this is the best Ive found so far.
